shinigami wa?
Inspired by my own childhood fascination with anime art, this is my ode to mortality. “Shinigami” is like a “death god” of sorts in Japanese Buddhism + mythology (literal translation, btw). They are known to invite mortal humans to death. Perhaps, a bit morbid to a westernized palette, but understood + accepted in Japanese culture.
Mortality is inevitable, yet so many fear its transition. So much so, that those who are greedy + opportunistic, bank off the fear by producing + selling products that you believe may slow down or prevent shinigami from showing up at your door steps any sooner.
