Living in a society where easy access to AI + miscellaneous gaga information are at our fingertips, are these tools helping us evolve or devolve?

My mind can only retain so much information these days, forcing me to rely on the web often. This concept has to do with one’s willingness (or lack thereof) to forgive another person when a particular thought is not contained for a myriad of reasons. Something I am seeing that does not happen enough in today’s society. Myself included.
